The Power Of Clarity

I’ve always considered myself to be a confident and determined person and like to think that I’ve been successful in anything I have put my mind to, so when we started our marketing business, I never considered for one moment that this would be any different.

Even though I never meant to go into marketing as a full time role.

Infact, we have an ecommerce business and I decided to train in marketing to understand how to promote this business more successfully.

Before I even completed my AdWords training. we found ourselves with our first client, purely by accident and it got me thinking ‘Maybe we can make a living doing this?’

And so was formed (albeit under a different brand initially).

How hard can it be right?

We already had a customer without even trying, so surely the rest will fall into our lap just as easily right? WRONG!

I was lucky enough to be on good money with an IT consultancy contract, so there was no real pressure to find clients. At the time, I saw this as a bonus, however in hindsight, I have realised that this meant we had no real focus on making this a success. We plodded on for 6 months, gained a couple more clients and then lost one and this knocked me for six, because I couldn’t understand why someone would leave. We were getting the results and they were achieving a great return on investment, so why go? The reality is that this is common in many industries, but it was a factor I had never considered. Yes, we had the skills and experience, but what we lacked was the understanding that customer come and go.

Then I received my biggest blow, My IT contract came to an end early due to cut-backs and we found ourselves with very little income and some big decisions to make. Do I find another IT contract or do I put all my efforts into making this business a success. I decided on the latter.

We have a big dream to move abroad within the next couple of years and allows us to do this and continue earning, whereas taking another contract tied me into staying here, so we took the plunge.

Then the fear of failure kicked in. What if we couldn’t make it? After all, we had lost 3 out of 4 customers through no fault of our own. How are we going to pay the bills? Questions that I’m sure have crossed every business owners mind, but never mine.

We had no money and no idea how to turn things around, but we couldn’t give up. I had never accepted failure before and I wasn’t going to give up on our dream now. But how do we get out of this hole?

Then I met Sheryl. The first thing she made me realise is that we DO add value. I had forgotten that we are good at what we do and we CAN add value to businesses and help them to be more successful.

So I started to believe in myself once again. I stopped dwelling on the ‘what ifs’ and the things we hadn’t completed and started celebrating each achievement, no matter how small and before you know it, we were enjoying the journey once again instead of only looking at the end goal and how far away it was.

With her continued support, I gained confidence and then suddenly, we had a couple more clients! This brought on our next issue. We were working silly hours and I started to panic about how we would cope with the number of clients needed to be financially stable. So I booked myself in for the 30 day intensive Clarity, Confidence and Change Programme which consisted of a one to one session, weekly accountability and  a power group plus the fabulous peer support group on Facebook.

By the end of the first one to one session, I came away with a clear understanding of our direction and an action plan of how we were going to achieve it. We put the steps into place and instantly everything became clearer. We had CLARITY!

Within the next few weeks we had signed up two more clients, but this time we found it easy to cope with the workload and we were having fun doing it.

Our message became much clearer. People were understanding what we were saying and believing in us.

With my new found confidence, I decided to do a couple of guest speaker events and realised I loved doing these. Not only was I showcasing our knowledge, but I also got to help more people – ethical marketing at it’s best.

Before I knew it, we had signed up another 5 clients in just 4 weeks!

In just 6 short months, we had gone from one client and complete panic to 10 clients and people call us asking for our support. It was an incredible turnaround.

I no longer worry about the 5 clients we lost along the way, it’s natural turnover. I no longer doubt our ability and we enjoy every day and even have more time off now that we did in the beginning because we have actionable processes and a clear message which attracts the right clients and relationships.

Without clarity, you can have the best product or service in the world and still fail.

Clarity helps you to understand who you are and what message you want to share.

It gives you the ability to see a clear path and how you can get there.

Without Sheryl’s programme, I don’t know where our business would be today. I wouldn’t have given up, it’s not in my nature, but I truly believe we would not have achieved what we have so quickly and I am very hopeful to achieve our dream to move abroad sooner than expected.

So my advice to anyone reading this would be, if you want your business to be successful, you MUST have clarity in what you want to achieve and how you will do it. Pick up the phone and call Sheryl and get yourself booked onto her Clarity programme. It will be the best investment you will ever make. It was for us.

Not only has she helped our business to grow, we now have a great work/life balance and have fun every day and I will be eternally grateful for this.

Thank you Sheryl , for all you have done and continue to do for us. You have been a true inspiration.
