Fast Forward Your Business
In September 2015 I was invited to an Andy Harrington event called Stand and Deliver. I was curious because I want to help more people and I want to make a bigger difference without neglecting my own family.
Whilst much of my approach was working, it needed to work better. I felt stuck and on my own and I needed a new way of looking at the same problem. My way alone was not enough.
I learned a lot that day about myself and Andy challenged my beliefs and made me consider which of my values might have to change to take my business and my life to the next level. I hadn’t even considered that my values could change which was learning in itself.
What didn’t work about Andy?
Sometimes when you attend events like this you learn what you don’t want to repeat. Being able to experience it and not like it can be the greatest gift. It teaches you how you don’t want to make other people feel.
I didn’t like some of the tactics he used to sell from the stage. It evidently did work and he did make lots of money that day but it is not my style. And that is not a value I want to change. I don’t want to play mind games with people and force them to make a decision they will regret later. It isn’t about the money for me it is about making a difference and yet I had learn how to make more money to make a bigger difference.
As I sat in the audience resisting the herd mentality to join in and be counted publicly as someone that did care about their business I was comforted by my own self assurance and clarity of mind that I was able to sit there even when he looked me in the eyes and said “if you are serious about your business why are you still sat there?”
I remember answering in my head – “Because this is not the right time for me and you are not the right person to teach me my next lesson” That inner confidence is what we all need when presented with someone that quite clearly knows a thing or two about the thing we want to learn. We have to know who is the right person and when is the right time to listen. And I believe everything happens for a reason.
Although Andy was not the right mentor for me. I was so thankful I went because I then ended up on Andy’s mailing list and was invited to FFYB with Roger Hamilton. I had heard of Wealth Dynamics and it was a no brainer to invest in the two days and get my free report so I booked to go to the event in 2015 a few weeks after meeting Andy.
What had happened?
That weekend in Sept 2015 transformed my business. Wealth dynamics and the Entrepeneurs Institute has given me a language that makes sense of my strengths and why I had not been able to find my pathway to wealth before.
Just knowing where I fit in, how I add value and that other caring supportive people can and have created a profitable business gave me the role model I needed to change my thinking.
Now I have a clear pathway to do more of what I love and ditch the critic that says I can’t. I now know how to set up deals to create revenue from my strengths.
One of the many lessons I learned at the conference was to pay myself first then ask the question how can I generate more income? I had always been focused on how I could help more people and now I see that by asking how can I make more money my mind is taken in a new direction and so I have to think differently. AND when I earn more I can help more people including myself which is such a lovely added bonus and I can give back to my chosen charities and causes too.
