What do women want?
I really don’t think it is about gender I think women want what everybody else want. We want to be heard, understood and know that we matter and add value. And yet so often the way we listen can distort what we hear.
All too often we can be offended or frustrated with the criticism of others or our own thoughts are drowned out by our own inner critic.
What if you could manage your critic and do more of what you love?
I am really excited about our up and coming event What do women want workshop? which is being run in partnership with Mary Kay Sales director Belinda Butler who is my client and my friend.
Belinda and I want to inspire men and women to gain clarity of what they want and the confidence to ask for it and what we both know to be true is that often requires changing the way you listen to criticism and compliments.
If you are sensitive and find yourself over reacting when people critique you then you may well also be sensitive to receiving praise. That means invariably you don’t truly recognise your strengths, how your story and your wisdom have value and why it is so important that you follow your dreams and turn those dreams into a reality.
Do shrug off compliments saying or at least thinking they are just being nice – no I am not?
This can and does prevent your brain from being able to stay in the learning brain and therefore can hinder clarity. If your brain thinks you are in danger and it is not fed useful information about when you are valued then it will become sensitive when it feels that you are being challenged.
You may find yourself responding in a way even you find unreasonable. You may find yourself procrastinating or talking lots and feeling really busy but not actually getting very far.
Belinda and I both found we were good at looking like everything was okay on the outside but we both reached a point in our lives where we did not know who to talk to when we could no longer hold it together.
As motivators, managers and mums we felt responsible for the happiness of others and felt we had to keep smiling. We knew others were inspired by us and didn’t know when and where it was okay to express our fears.
Finding the right support network?
Belinda became my client and finally I became hers and we will be sharing the tools that work for us to do more of what we love and ditch the critic that says you can’t.
I will be sharing practical tools and information about how you we hear information and what you can do to manage your critic.
Belinda will be sharing practical things you can do physically to strengthen your posture to reinforce your confidence and for those interested there will be a chance at the end to hear about how the Mary Kay community supported her to be the best working mum she could be.
Please do book now places are limited and this is a great opportunity to meet with like minded people and grow.
About the Author – Sheryl Andrews – The Strength and Solution Detective
Sheryl Andrews, Founder of Step by Step Listening, is well known for her fast speaking and her passion to make things happen. But what many of you may not know is that in private behind closed doors she was also no stranger to lapses in self belief and an overwhelming sense of not being good enough.
That was until she conquered her sensitivity to criticism and her fear of not being liked.
Today, Sheryl runs safe to speak retreats where you can develop resources and skills to gain clarity and confidence of what you want and how you want to be and all the time you will be improving and changing the way you respond to feedback.

The Meeting Of The Minds
For those that were following my social media this weekend you will know that I travelled with Karen Williams to Edinburgh Scotland to celebrate with author Helen Monoghan who launched her book Successful Business Minds.
I wanted to share lots of photos however I am finding myself technically challenged. Everytime I upload a photo it rotates it and I cannot seem to resolve it. Hence they look like this. So I have included a few and I ask that you forgive the angle. Continue reading The Meeting Of The Minds
